Day 30 Reston > Souris

Tuesday Woke up early to see a moose walking across the golf course in front of our camp site. We had breakfast at the local cafe and met Debbie the owner rushed off her feet as her husband is in hospital yet again (well done Debbie great job). The town was filled friendly faces all of which wanted to meet the crazy old birds. We had the best send off still waving 20 km out of town as more locals saw us off. Celebrated my 2000 km Micheles 750km with a swig of Dalwinnie on the road side. A text came through from Marc Cumberland as we were swigging away. His wife Katrina had just given birth to a bouncing baby boy Jack Marcel – a double celebration. Congrats to Marc, Katrina and Amy cann’t wait to see him – another – Forest fan/player. Travelled on to Souris just south of Brandon. Faye picked us up and we drove up to Brandon to have the bikes serviced. Mine needed new cassette and chain so did some chores whilst we waited. This may be the last opportunity we have with civilization for several hundred km. The bike shop owner said he usually services bikes from both westerly and easterly travellers and we are the first ones through this year. We had lunch in a local cafe a local lady offered us accomadation for the night in a seniors home. We declined the kind offer but realize we need to apply more moistruiser from now on. Although Michele was keen to have a bed bath – lazy cow – back to the wet wipes I guess!
