Day 39 Bemidji > Grand Rapids

Thursday – After talking to local Benmidji guy Bill Smith we were advised that we should both take a ride with him through the Indian Reservation. The landscape is very marshy and absolute wilderness and his opinion was that it would be crazy to ride through this area. There are no go spots where gangs of Indians can not be trusted and we sure don’t need to get in the cross fire. This area is actually the head waters of the Mississippi and once we were in the next town Grand Rapids the river has become a similar size to the Trent. Micheles Roy Orbason impression is actually getting worse so at 10pm we decided to take a taxi to accident and emergancy. We were put in a waiting room and at first found some of the incidents amusing feeling like we were on Casulty! I played nurse – always fancied the uniform. Michele was sworn to secrecy regarding the antibiotics I had prescribed the day before – out of my own stash. The cases got progressively worse and Michele’s eye problem became quite insignificant until we reminded them we were still in the waiting room. It was 2am before she was seen some guy with heart failure took presidence much to Micheles disgust! Nurse Jo had at least got it right and now Michele has her own antibiotics!

Road Kill – Grand Rapid news – 1 x Indian shot in the back twice. The Tribal police had arrested another Indian – Last report he is still alive. Not sure whether they are talking about the Victim or the perpetrator!
