Day 40 Grand Rapids > Floodwood

Friday woke up late after a busy night in the hospital. Roy Orberson slept well and we decided she should take a taxi to Floodwood while I continued to ride the bike. I set off and enjoyed the first part of the ride by the side of the Mississippi and the gentle rolling hills all the way to Floodwood. Michele overtook in the taxi and topped up my water supplies. The lush vegetation and incredible bracken made loo loo stops easy! Once in Floodwood we checked in at The Stardust Motel. Well actually we just found the room. I had previously booked it . There were only 7 rooms in town but was a little concerned when the owner said “when you get here just  chose any room cos they are all just left open! Michele seemed happy with the thought that anyone could just walk in – until it actually happened! We desided that as she was starting to recover we should celebrate so hit the local bar and after several whiskeys we ordered the usual offering of brown food! By brown food I mean everything on the menu is deep fried it actually doesn’t matter what you order it all tastes the same – a sort of combination of chicken and fish with a liberal sprinkling of washing detergent – lovely!
