Day 55 Sturgeon Falls > Mattawa

Tuesday. Had breakfast early with commander Jill now self impossed head of the boot camp! Only one conscript so far though. As I started down the road I passed two guys thumbing a lift and we had a joke about me giving them a ride. 10 km further on a rain storm blew in and drenched me so I stopped by a coffee bar and dried out. Once back on the road I rounded the next corner and The Newarkers had pulled up two cyclists. Yes our first Trans Canada’s Adam & Monica still looking a little traumatised! They are doing the whole trip in three weeks on then three weeks off so they can return to work as pilots in between. We share a few stories and then headed on. They stayed in the next town – North Bay and I continued. The scenery is more undulating by the day. Some tricky hills today and hot weather with another headwind. As I left North Bay the two hitchhikers were waiting for another ride. We waved and laughed saying see you soon! On arrival in Mattawa I could hardly believe it! They were on the road outside the hotel we were staying in. I took them a glass of wine each and they told me they were on there way to Quebec city. I guess this isn’t the last time we’ll see each other. Meanwhile the Newarkers were working there charm on some guys in a local band (not Indian – musical) sadly not playing tonight! They were in their 70’s! . Myrt’s Restaurant gave us a good supper and we were set up for the night.
