Day 9 Merritt > Douglas Lake

Beautiful day first 25km flat skirting Nicola Lake the reflections of the mountains in the lakes were fantastic. The first time I have heard coyotes howling in the day time made me realize how remote this trip was getting. After the Lake I headed up for the next 15 km over to a high plateau. Rob caught me up after a great game of golf 4 pars so a happy chappie. The road turned to gravel as we travelled through the largest cattle ranch in Canada. The cows with there new born calves sat and starred at my bike not sure what it really was. We passed feed lots and bull pens after 30km we finally reached some wood fishing cabins on a lake shore (Salmon Lake) we asked if we could stay and although the season had not started one of the cabins were clean and we were allowed to make camp.  With a wood burning stove we were soon cosy warm watching the sun set over the lake miles from anywhere. Romantic stuff!!
