Golden, Golden, Golden. Yep we are still in Golden. Got up early and drove back to Heather Mountain.
Monday 23rd April early start for a big day. Glorious weather so took my time and managed to slowly ride the entire Rogers Pass without getting off the bike to push! Nearly 4,500ft elevation in 70km!
After several hard days it's time to take it easy before I go play with the big boys! Taking advice from my cousin I set out on an easy 30km day to a pub on the route. Another beautiful day and all was well until I realized that my Harley driving cousin had slightly under estimated the distance which actually ended up being 50 Km.
Beautiful beautiful day!!!! Rob dropped me off at The Burner and off I peddled to Revelstoke. Just as he was out of sight I felt the first drop of rain.
Woke up in a winter wonderland. Snow covered landscape. The gravel roads soon turned to mush and my wheels could hardly turn.
Beautiful day first 25km flat skirting Nicola Lake the reflections of the mountains in the lakes were fantastic. The first time I have heard coyotes howling in the day time made me realize how remote this trip was getting. After the Lake I headed up for the next 15 km over to a high plateau.
Snowy start with lots of spray on highway 1 after the first 30 km I was ready to pull off the road and Rob had found an incredible breakfast stop at Spencers Bridge called The Pack House. We entered through the side door to find we were actually in a small but well stocked grocery store. I asked the lovely lady if she could possibly make me a coffee and she directed us to the shop next door.
Hi Folks - catching up today so will fill you in on all the days I've missed so far. Long drive to the start today ,so didn't get started until 11.30 am. My route took me dew south along the massive Fraser River canyon for 64kmYou would think that if your following a river I would have a good steady run but unfortunatly the day was filled with steep hills and fast descents with a head on wind all day.
Oouch! Never going to say "tomorrow should be easier! " Yes only another 400meters to summit but hadn't realized I would stay at over 4,000 meters for 70km only dropping briefly & climbing back up again.
Early start Started the day with a good ride down to Pemberton 34 km With only two hills. Great views of the mountains and tremendous Nairn Falls. Felt good so carried on without taking a break.
