Day 49 Munising > Sault Saint Marie

Sunday > headed along the highway and after a short while I saw a large turtle on the road side. Michele was overcome with a animal rescue plan but as the turtle was basically inbetween the road and the traintracks I do think his days were numbered. He was huge as you will see once I get these next photos online. Jim told us latter that these huge snapping turtles can give one hell of a bite so maybe the rescue plan would have been a bad idea! We called in at a golf course with beautiful mature wooded fairways and watched Jim and Charlotte complete a round then on to Sault Saint Marie. Today was Michele last day cycling and we had a perfect day. Over a drink we confessed to the bear sightings and Michele nearly choked laughing. We drove on to Sudbury to look for a hotel and as we drove Charlotte spotted a bear in the town center and we gave chase. Any Canadians reading this please close your eyes now – Jim brandishing a freshly opened pack of beef jerky out of the car window didn’t seem to stop him but we did get close enough to get a good picture and a much relieved Michele finally got to see one from the safty of a car!
