Day 57 Deep River > Ottawa

Thursday Last night I had my own room. The beds offered in the shared room were a little too cosie and I thought the Newarkers could have a lay in. I woke early and made my way for a 6am breakfast. As I entered the dining room wing commander Jill was grinning away behind her coffee cup! Breakfast over in quick time I was off. Following the Ottawa River the hills became rolling and although a head wind I soon arrived in Cobham. The Newarkers picnic was set in the towns park and as I rounded the bend they were flag waving and jumping up and down. I tried to pass but they weren’t letting me get by this time! Lunch over I headed on towards Ottawa. My support team passed with the usual heart stopping honking! Then a Mountie – always get there man- drove by with blue lights flashing! I was a little puzzled as this time I was their man! Apparently this road was far too dangerous for me to travel on! He asked me how long I’d been on it! When I said since the beginning of April and he was the first cop to stop me he was not amused. I was offered two options 1. Call for a lift 2. He would get me off the road but I had to leave the bike! Plan 1. I called the Newarkers. They came. – amazing!
We moved on to the next stop Ottawa. Will get a better map! Then find another route into the city. Bike being serviced tomorrow so will have another go on Saturday. Went to a well recommended Italian restaurant Alfonzo’s then back to the hotel. Just had to change rooms as the last one was infested with flying ants,! It’s been a funny sort of a day! Should add that I’m averaging 100 km a day mountains- heat- wind there’s not excuses according to my back up squad!
